Elder DeLange

Presenting ELDER DELANGE
My little brother Cameron entered the MTC yesterday. He'll be serving in the Tampa, Florida mission, which covers the south west portion of the state. We couldn't be more excited for him!!!!

camcam's always been my little buddy- he's about 3 and a 1/2 years younger than me-
which was perfect when I was little and could convince him to play princess dress-up with me bc he didn't know any better :)

 saying goodbye to dad

Jordan, Chris, and Matt all had school commitments but since I'm cool and live about a mile from the MTC I was all over this

awww. the cutest part of this whole thing (other than the pic below) are all of the hosts that came to greet him! he had like 5 Elders swarm him the moment he got out of our car- they were so nice and so excited to meet cam.

awww. mama saying goodbye to Cameron for TWO YEARS. Both of my parents have served missions and they both set such good examples for cam to follow in.

See ya later camcam!

quick trip

Even though the trip was quick, this post is looooooong.
Most of these pictures were taken pre-crazy migraine.

This is my oldest brother Jordan- he was able to take a weekend off and come
down from Princeton to visit. We missed Julie though!

They were draining the pool so it definitely doesn't look as pretty.

In front fo the Lincoln Memorial- I have a picture exactly like this from 9 years ago when I was 14....still looking for it though.

Korean War Memorial- both of my Grandpas served in this war.

 WWII

And here is my tree that I collapsed under when my head was exploding and
I couldn't stop throwing up lol

The view from the hotel room that I didn't leave for a couple days

Chris and Debbie- Debbie was the BEST hostess- she made us dinner on Sunday and kept me full of the yummiest watermelon (that was the ONLY thing my sore stomach could handle)

 little brother

 Jordan thinks he's a model

 blue steel ?

As always we played outburst- and as always my mom's team won.

I was such a geek at the museums! I LOVED the dinosaurs. The afternoon before I had to leave I was feeling well enough to hit up a few museums. I went by myself because everyone else had gone while I was in bed. But is was all good- I just wandered around and elbowed second graders out of my way to get the best views of the dinosaurs and diamonds.

Before going to the airport we stopped at Fords Theatre

Right after the dinosaurs, these necklaces were favorite.

Right across the street from Fords Theatre is Lincoln's Waffle House. Sounds a little corny, but holy cow- the food was awesome. My stomach still couldn't handle too much food, so I thought I would play it safe and just ordered a turkey sandwich. haha, but this is what came- I was only able handle three (delicious) bites before I let my dad have the rest.

And that's all! Until next time dc.....

Home, Alive, and BLONDE

Alright, so this past week I've been in D.C. visiting my family. Unfortunately there was a mishap and on the first day I got the worst migraine in the history of the world. At first I thought I was having a stroke! little scary.... but thankfully not true. My vision went fuzzy, I couldn't talk or hear, I lost all feeling in my arm, hand and face and my head felt like someone was pounding on it with a sledgehammer- and I was out of control throwing up (17 times total in about 4 hours) at any outside noise or light. It was beyond horrible and totally embarrassing, not that I was that concerned about that at the time. I threw up three times alone at the Washington Monument! ugh. At least my parents were with me and took great care of me. Thankfully, my dad's hotel wasn't too far away and he was able to get me a taxi- he had to half drag half carry me there and through the hotel lobby and to the hotel room. So....I basically spent most of my time in D.C. in bed resting and feeling better- and I do  feel TONS better today. It looks like this complex migraine on steroids was brought on by a combination of dehydration and extremely low blood sugar. Soooo from now on I am going to be packing water bottles and granola bars EVERYWHERE I go. Definitely learned my lesson. I flew in late last night and have been in bed all day today to regroup and gain back some energy- although I will definitely be up and at work tomorrow- I hate sitting in bed! I'll also post more pictures of some of the things we did do in D.C. when I wasn't almost dying in a few days- I haven't uploaded those pics from the camera yet. Until then- here's some of my new hair! These pics are from last week right when i had it done.
 It's definitely blonde.

and i had new bangs cut. i can't stay away from them.

much better for summer right?

and aren't these gorgeous? my work is so so nice. i let them know i wasn't going to be in today because of all the migraine business and they sent me these with a kind note. they're the best! i only have one more month of work- they definitely didn't have to do this- but they did and it made it my day :) if you ever need you taxes done- you should definitely go to hawkins cloward and simister.

blog vomit

okay so consider this a warning- this post is pointless. it's basically just all of my random photos that have been collecting on my laptop and phone. for some reason i've been horrible about taking real pictures and these are all i have to show for our recent happenings.

A few weeks ago we went bowling at the Wilk- Jeff was awesome as usual

yeah...i totally got the top score......

not.

oh hey awesome new talent and skill machine

isn't this the cutest? this is jeff with our niece, london

what odd pictures. don't worry jeff has pants on.

and in other news......i'm going to D.C. on FRIDAY!!!!FUNFUNFUN ha. i'm super excited to take some time off work and see my whole fantastic family for a few days. sadly, jeff's not coming with- so if you're in the neighborhood drop by and challenge him to either mariokart, smash, blitz or a game of ping pong. k thanks.

weird, i know...

Ok, so for the past week Jeff and I have been obsessed with this commercial! It makes us laugh so hard! I'm not sure why- cause it should really probably be freaking us out instead but the furry creature (we just call it a troll) is too funny. But what makes this really weird is what happened last
night when this commercial came on.......
*commercial starts and we both begin to laugh really hard*
Jeff: "This commercial is AWESOME. The troll is just like you! You are totally the troll. If you were a troll, you'd be like that....."
Me (still laughing): "...Yeah, I get that......."
and the weirder thing is.... I really did. idk but maybe I should've been offended when Jeff called me a troll, but I totally wasn't bc I had been thinking the exact same thing! I don't know why- maybe it's cause the monster/troll and I have similar coloring and ginormous cartoon eyes? or maybe cause I also like to cruise around, shop, and take pictures with my friends? Maybe it's bc this troll walks like a man and I also have a confusingly masculine walk? or maybe bc this troll/monster seems like a really cool person who everyone wants to hang out with and I'm cool too?....idk.
It's all weird and  I know that- 50% of the reason I posted this was bc me and Jeff both really want to be able to watch this commercial whenever we want on demand and 50% is because I would really like to remember this in a few years- I think it could come in handy when we have a disagreement- "hey remember that time you called me a troll?" and he'll have to let me win the argument.....I just have to let enough time pass so he forgets that I totally agreed with him that the troll/monster reminded me of me too.....

New Skillz

I need to somehow obtain some new skills desperately. I don't really have any talents that can also be described as skills. I can't sing, I'm not artsy, I burn more food in the kitchen than anybody I know (last night I burned my Ramen) and I don't have a weird ocd thing for keeping everything nice and organized all the time...I really wish I was more like one of those girls who has to have everything clean and straightened and perfect or they can't relax.....but I've really never had a problem relaxing while my apartment looks like a black hole, I block it out and I'm just fine.
In seminary we used to do this thing where we write notes to other people telling them their talents and what they're good at..... mine always said things like "good listener" and "nice" and "sometimes looks pretty"-seriously- someone anonymously told me I sometimes look pretty. wow thanks, good to know I'm sometimes good at looking nice....weirdo.
But anyways.......totally getting off the subject- my point is, I want a talent/skill I can quantify- and instead of waiting for my sleeper martha stewart gene to kick in, I'm going to force/start it myself. A few months ago my mom came to visit and bought me this:

Last Saturday was my "learn how to be awesome at sewing" day. It went.....okay. Lucky for me this machine came with an instructional dvd! haha but not so lucky for Jeff I had to keep playing it over and over and over again. I ended up making a simple white pleated skirt- which has yet to fall apart! yay me.
Also- this is really pretty embarrassing-but apparently you're supposed to use an iron while sewing to keep all of the seams down.....except we didn't really have an iron. after almost two years of marriage. no iron. This was also the very first time I thought- hey I should probably get an iron- after 5 years of living on my own it just never came up! I was talking to my friend Elise and at least she thinks I'm still cool- she was actually impressed. I blame my lack of an iron on that sleeper martha stewart gene.
