got a job! holla

ooh. i forgot to mention i got a job last week! and it's only 5 minutes away. sweet. i also have my own office-with a window. annnnnd it's a nice/casual dress office, with jeans passing as casual/nice :) perfect. definitely feeling grateful. my only problem is everyone in my office say yes ma'am and no sir- i feel like it's impossible for me to say this without sounding super cheesy or sarcastic. i don't want to seem rude by not saying it but...i think i sound more rude when i do say it....awkward.

ohmygoodness it's hot

Never thought I'd say that I miss Utah weather.....but it's true.
I'm probably just being impatient with this Texas heat but it's almost October and we're still firmly in the 90s. I miss me some fall leaves and crisp autumn air. I want to wear tights again and I really miss my boots.  I just can't get away with wearing tights and boots in 95 degree weather, it's gross. I also miss how in Utah/Idaho it gets cooler at night- that definitely doesn't happen here.

Today, I'm just missing fall.

and nowhere is fall prettier than on the Boise River.

I know, boohoo, my life's so hard-all I have to complain about is the weather. Sigh.
I guess I'd just settle for a cool breeze.

Birthday Boy

Happy Birthday today to the best guy I know- ma husband.

The birthday boy is 26 today and I couldn't be prouder of him. He works so hard at school and work but he always makes time to make me laugh-
every. single. day.
I'm one lucky girl because I truly married my best friend. In true Jeff fashion he doesn't want to do anything out of the ordinary today, but that's too bad cause I love spoiling the one I love.
I've been working all week on getting everything together for this weekend and yesterday all of the presents from family made it to our new address. Can't wait for tonight!!!
Happy Birthday Love!

Last Weekend

Last Friday Jeff had his classes canceled so we headed out to Wylie early to spend the
weekend with the Cooks. We started it out right by visiting Logan at school for lunch- after, Jeff played a lot of Xbox with Logan and I played princess with Taylor :)
I went with Ann to a baby shower and then we went out to a movie that night-
it was so fun to hang out with girls!
The next morning we woke up early for Logan's football game- they won- awesome.
Later in the day I went with Ann and Taylor to this great mall in Dallas so Taylor
could see the Barbie Princess show and we could shop for boots,
and we were successful! Ann found the cutest boots.
That night Jeff and I watched the kiddos while Ann and Eric chaperoned a youth dance.
I was able to take Logan over to their block party, which he loved because of the awesome bouncy house. The only bad part of the weekend was the BYU game. boo.

But have I said how much I love living close to family? It's awesome.
I feel spoiled having lived so close to Amy and her family the first two years of our marriage and now we get to live close to Ann. Awesome.
Can we always live close to sister-in-laws?
yes please!

Home Sweet Home

It took us a week, but we've finally  settled into our new apartment. Already it is much better than our last place- mostly because we have a dish washer now! oh yeah. we're moving up in the world. ha- it's actually funny, neither of us fight about the dishes now bc it's so freaking easy to do them. awesome. Everything else going pretty well- our neighbors are very nice, and the management people at out place are so easy to work with. Overall, we feel pretty lucky to have found this place for such a sweet deal. Our lease is only 6 months, and we still might move again when it's up (if we find a decent place a little closer to Jeff's school), but for now this place will work just great.

Had to give the closet it's own set of pics- it's by far the best part of our apt. :) gotta love having your first walk in closet (well, first as a married couple). Makes sharing space SO MUCH easier.
also...I think Jeff is developing a shoe problem. He gave away like ten pairs before we moved and we still have some in boxes. If you like Nike and wear a size 14, holla at us and we'll give you a free pair of shoes :) Also- Jeff made his school's beach volleyball team, woot woot. So this November he'll be in Florida reppin Parker in the chiro games. I'm so proud.

Sunday 9.11.11

Last Sunday was our first time going to our new ward. We loved it.

All of our meetings were good and they all touched on September 11 and focused on God's Plan of Salvation. It was a great pick me up on such a sad day.

We also made new friends who were so nice and showed us around our new area- they took us to the coolest park with a pond....this park also had the coolest playground.

and then we came home for dinner. This was our first home cooked meal in our new apartment- and it was good.

That night we watched 9-11 memorials on tv, which always break my heart. I was in 8th grade when
9-11 happened. I was at the bus stop when I first heard some of the other kids talking about it and then in my first period Algebra 1 class, my teacher Mr. Duvall had the news turned on and we watched the news all day- didn't do any work, no one gave any homework- I remember looking over my homework from the night before and trying to figure out a math problem I hadn't been able to work out- I looked up from my problem to see one of the towers fall. It was horrible. Every class that day had a different teacher trying to explain what was going on to all of us confused middle schoolers- none of us had ever heard of Osama Bin Laden or really knew where Afghanistan was...that night I remember watching the news and President Bush and everyone on TV was talking about a new war. I still don't like listening to that I'm Proud to be an American song because that's all they played on the radio for weeks after, so now every time I hear it I just feel sad. However, in church when they talked about 9-11 they talked about the good in man and all of the charitable and heroic acts that came from this.
That's what we should focus on.

Yay For Friends

We had our first visitors. Yeeaaaah! Last Friday we met up with Mary and Phil for diner and then they came over to check out our place. We're still very much in the process of getting everything set up, so we all just sat on the floor and talked. It was great! So nice to see familiar faces. We're definitely going to love having them live in Dallas too.

Baby Madison

Our newest niece; Madison Ann Baker

We were lucky we got to see her! She is only a few days old in these pictures. On our way down to Provo, we stopped in American Fork to meet this little one.
Don't you love her hair?

Labor Day Weekend

This last Labor Day was spent with family- so it was pretty great. We got to spend it with Jeff's sister and her family as they were being so nice and letting us crash with them until we could move into our apartment. We definitely appreciated it!
While there, we were able to attend Logan's first weekend of games for his football team.

His game was at 8 in the morning on Saturday- but ohmygoodness- it was so hot! After the game Jeff and I were getting sweaty and we were just sitting there watching- shoots.

Oh Taylor. She was my best friend this weekend! She was my little shadow and I loved playing with her- seriously, she's a hoot.
She insisted on doing my make up every morning so I could be "pretty like her." haha- we also played princess and snuggled during the Justin Bieber movie.

On Monday morning Jeff and I went to the gym with Ann- we did this barbell class and it was so awesome. I've literally never seriously held a barbell before ever- and in the class you do all of these lifts and lunges with them. It was so fun! We had a blast- it probably helped that our instructor blasted Britney remixes :) We also ended up watching the Bieber movie- we loved it-and Ann was awesome and burned us all of the music lol We don't have any kids to be our excuse- we just like it, and have been listening to it nonstop. We also had tons of great food and Jeff got in some quality time with their xbox. All in all it was a great weekend and we're so excited to being living close to these guys!!!! Can't wait to see them again soon.

Just Getting There

Hey ya'll!
Jeff and I are finally in our new apartment. There's not much else in here with us though.
It's just us, two suitcases and a couple of blankets and beach towels. Luckily our stuff arrives today!!!!!
CAN NOT WAIT. Actually, we do have our internet- just no bed, couch, clothes,
bathroom or kitchen stuff-  I guess that shows where our priorities are :)
Luckily, Jeff's sister and her family live about 45 minutes away and they were all nice enough to let us stay with them for the long weekend. Last night Jeff and I checked in to our apartment and slept on the floor. yuck. At least our bed tonight will feel heavenly. I miss that thing!
We started our trip to Dallas by heading out of Boise and stopping in good ol' Provo to get all of our stuff out of storage. We spent the night with our friends, the Hansens, who were so great and I had so much fun with Danielle. I'll definitely miss having her as my neighbor! After Provo, it was on to Denver to see my good friend from high school, Elise, and her adorable baby boy.

We left at 5:30 am, but this is the last picture we took of Utah right before crossing into WY

We drove for hours past farmland that looked just like this.
I should've appreciated the green more- it's brown here.

We definitely took in the mountains since we knew we wouldn't be seeing any for a long, long time.

Ha, giant buffalo on our way out of Wyoming.

 Colorado!

Awww. The adorable baby Hudson. He's a chunk! We fell in love with him- he's about four months and in the highest percentile for all of his growth charts. Elise is the best momma. She was so kind to let us stay with her- it was some much needed catch up time. Can't wait to see her again back in Boise for Christmas!

 Check out those thighs. Yum.

Jeff and I just loved him! We can't wait to see him again.
Thanks Elise for sharing your home (and baby) with us :)

After sitting in a car all day long, it felt so good to get out and walk around. Elise lives in a great place outside of Denver close to lots of walking paths and mini lakes/ponds.

Day 3 of travel. Leaving Denver at 5 am. This was our last day of driving and our longest! The first two days we drove 6 hours and then 7- this day we drove 14. Jeff was a champ and drove the whole way. Woot woot for an awesome husband!

We were only in Oklahoma for about an hour, but it was pretty much just flat. We did drive through Boise City, OK- but I prefer my Boise....by a lot.

And we're in Texas!

We passed through more tiny little towns....there wasn't always a lot to these towns, but they all had a had a sonic.

I was in charge of directions- thank goodness for iphones!!! I had printed out directions but it was so nice to be able to do a quick satellite check to make sure we were actually going in the right direction. When everything is flat and you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere- it helps big time to know for sure where you are.

Holy flatness

14 hours later.... and we're coming in to Dallas!

oh the freeways....without mountains to anchor my directions I'm clueless trying to get anywhere. I dropped Jeff off on our first day and as I was trying to get to our new apartment place to check in, I got so lost. Somehow I just kept jumping freeways. Boo. Hopefully I'll get more used to things.
